Cocky Chatterbox – 1000 Piece

The Sulphur Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) is a large, curious, highly intelligent bird found in Eastern Australia. They are common in many urban areas, having adapted well to living with people. They can mimic speech and may become closely bonded to a human caregiver during their long life of up to 70 years.  In captivity, they are capable of dancing to the beat, and express their emotions using movements and posturing of their feathers.

This original painting by De Gillett Cox is 122 x 153 cm, Acrylic on Linen, and features De’s habitual technique of overlaying her subject with many partial views of itself in motion.
